Is there any heating or cooling in my room?

Their apartments do not have any heaters or fans within the bedrooms however there is a ceiling fan in the lounge room of each apartment. The Student Lounge and E Library have air conditioning. Please note that you are welcome to bring your own fan and enclosed column heater as per the village rules: In the interests of safety, heaters with an exposed element, small fan heaters, and bar heaters are prohibited within the village. If heaters are not supplied in your Room, residents are only entitled to use enclosed column heaters with a maximum capacity not exceeding 1,200 watts with the prior consent of Village management. Please use common sense when using the heaters. Do not leave heaters on when you leave your room or apartment and do not place any items of clothing or any other article over or close to a heater.

How much does it cost to do laundry?

It is $4 per wash and $4 per dry cycle. All of their machines are card only.

Question 3

What happens if I lose my key or swipe?

Accepted Answer

It's important to make sure that you always know where your keys are. If you do misplace your room key, please note that there is a $20 cost to replace your swipe and $256.50 inc. GST cost to replace your metal room key. These costs will be placed directly onto your account and need to be paid immediately.

I'm living with 4 other people, whose responsibility is it to take out the rubbish?

Living in shared accommodation means that everyone needs to pitch in to keep the apartment clean and tidy. There is no housekeeping service. If there are apartment disputes you can arrange with reception to have village management mediate an apartment meeting.

What are some examples of the live, learn and grow program?

There is always something happening within the village! Pick up your semester events calendar from the E-Library for your wall to make sure you never miss an event. Like their Facebook page and follow them on Instagram to stay up to date!

Can I book common spaces?

The common spaces are for all students, however on request they may be able to allocate a time for private use.

Question 7

How often will my room be inspected?

In conjunction with the Residential Tenancies Authority, inspections occur every 3 months. They will advise you prior to inspections occurring so you have more than enough time to tidy up!

What happens if I get locked out of my room?

If you are locked out of your room during office hours, please make your way to reception or call their office and one of their staff will be able to assist you. For after hours assistance, you can contact the RA or duty manager who is on call. A lockout fee does apply after hours.

Can I have people stay over?

Accepted Answer

Although they do not encourage overnight guests, they do understand that you may have someone stay from time to time. Please make sure that you sign your guest into reception upon arrival and sign them out on departure. As per the village rules, you can have a guest stay no more than 2 consecutive nights in a 7 day period. Please ensure you understand the rules for visitor and guest behaviour.

The contract dates don't suit me, can I negotiate?

All of their contract dates are unfortunately non-flexible, you are unable to choose your own dates.

What is First Year Exemption? Am I eligible?

If you are a domestic first year student applying through UAC / VTAC / QTAC / TISC you may be eligible for First Year Exemption. You are eligible if: • You did not get accepted into university • Were accepted into another university • Your course is now wholly offered online (i.e., not being taught internally) If your contract has not commenced, you all be refunded your bond where applicable. If your contract has started, you are liable for rent up to the date of notification / moving out of the Village. Your bond will be refunded where applicable. Please note the First Year Exemption will not apply where you have accepted a University Offer, but you elect to defer or withdraw from your studies. You must notify Village Management in writing (Resident Notification) within 5 days from the UAC / VTAC / QTAC / TISC Main Round offers release date (generally around late January - refer to the UAC / VTAC / QTAC / TISC website for actual dates).

Question 12

How far is the village from the university?

The main courtyard of the university is only a 5 minute walk from the village! The library is only 2 minutes further; all university facilities are at most 10 minutes away.
