How much is a PureGym student membership?
PureGym does not publish one number, and any page that gives you a single figure is guessing.
For context, standard PureGym pricing in 2026 runs from around £17.99 a month for Off-Peak, £22.99 for Core and £28.99 for Plus, plus a joining fee. These vary by location, with London carrying a clear premium. Apply up to 30% to your local gym's rate and you have a working estimate.

The single-club restriction is the detail that catches people
Standard PureGym Core membership lets you train at any of the 450-plus gyms nationwide. The student membership does not, during term time. You pick one club and that is your club.
For most students this is fine, because you will train near your accommodation or near campus and rarely anywhere else. It matters if you are on a course with placements in a different city, or if your campus and your flat are far enough apart that you would realistically use two gyms.
Multi-gym access can be added from £2 a month on monthly memberships, which is cheap enough that it is worth taking if there is any doubt.
The out-of-term multi-gym access is genuinely useful
Outside term time, student members get free multi-gym access. That means you can train at your home-town gym over Christmas, Easter and summer without paying anything extra.
This is a sensible piece of product design and it addresses the main reason students waste money on gym memberships: paying for four months of the year when you are not there. Worth factoring in when comparing against a university gym, which will often be closed or restricted over the holidays.
Monthly or fixed term?
Two structures, and this choice matters more than the discount does.
Monthly. No contract, cancel whenever, slightly higher per month. Multi-gym access can be added from £2 a month.
Fixed term. 6, 9 or 12 months paid in advance, up to 30% cheaper than paying monthly. Once purchased it cannot be changed at all, including switching to a different gym or a higher tier.
The honest advice on fixed terms
Fixed term is cheaper and it is also the one students regret.
A 12-month fixed term bought in September assumes three things: that you will still want that specific gym in June, that you will not move house or change city, and that you will not stop going in February like a large proportion of people do.
A 6-month term running to the end of the second term is the reasonable middle ground. It captures most of the discount without betting on a full year of motivation and a stable address.
If you are unsure, PureGym sells 1, 3, 7 and 30 day passes, and sometimes offers free 3-day passes for new members. Try the specific gym at the specific time of day you would actually go, before locking in half a year. A gym that is pleasant at 2pm on a Tuesday can be unusable at 6pm on a Monday.
I am already a PureGym member. Can I switch?
Not directly. PureGym requires existing members to cancel their current membership and sign up again as a student through UNiDAYS.
Before you do, check whether your current deal is actually worse. If you are on an old promotional rate, or on a multi-gym membership you genuinely use, the student rate with its single-club restriction may not be an improvement.

Does your university have a gym?
