Adelaide is a genuinely walkable capital, and UniLodge on Waymouth — at 304 Waymouth Street, Adelaide SA 5000 — sits inside the part of the city that makes that true. For students arriving in Adelaide for the first time, the property offers a convenient base for experiencing what everyday life in the CBD looks like. With universities, cafés, shops, public transport and major city attractions within easy reach, it’s a practical choice for student accommodation in Adelaide.

Rates start from around A$410 a week.

Where you actually are

DestinationDistanceTime
UniSA City West campus0.3 miles~7-minute walk
University of Adelaide1.3 miles~7-minute drive
Nearest tram/bus stop—~7-minute walk
Adelaide medical school / SA Museum—15–20-minute walk
Central Market, State Library, galleries—Walkable

The short version: if you're at UniSA City West, you walk to class in seven minutes and this is close to ideal. If you're at the University of Adelaide, you're on public transport or a bike — walkable in theory at 1.3 miles, but not something most people do twice a day in an Adelaide summer.

That's the first thing to check before anything else on this page: which of Adelaide's campuses you're actually attending changes the answer completely.

What Adelaide's CBD gives you that other cities don't

Adelaide's city centre is compact in a way Melbourne's and Sydney's aren't. From Waymouth Street you're within a walk of the Central Market — one of the largest fresh produce markets in the southern hemisphere and genuinely useful for eating well on a student budget, not just a tourist stop — plus the State Library, the museum, and the gallery precinct.

For an international student, that compactness lowers the cost of arriving somewhere new. You can learn the city on foot in a week, and the free-to-enter cultural institutions are a real amenity when your budget is thin.

Room types

Three studio configurations:

  • Single studio (available on levels G–4 and levels 5–8)
  • Double studio
  • Twin studio

Every apartment is self-contained: ensuite bathroom with shower, kitchenette, balcony, reverse-cycle air conditioning, and a 32-inch HD TV.

Note that all three are studios rather than shared apartments. Unlike the shared-flat buildings common in Melbourne and Perth, this property doesn't offer a cheap shared-bedroom entry tier — the A$410 starting rate is for a self-contained space, which explains why the floor is higher here than at, say, a Perth campus village.

The level split on single studios (G–4 versus 5–8) usually signals a price or view difference. Ask which band a quoted rate applies to.

What's included

Water, gas, and unlimited internet are in the rent, along with contents insurance — that last one is unusual and worth noting, since it's a cost you'd otherwise arrange yourself.

Shared facilities: recreation rooms with gaming tables, study lounges, shared kitchens, 24/7 laundry, a BBQ area and outdoor courtyard, bicycle parking, vending machines, CCTV, secure entry, and on-site staff. There's a Residential Life Program with monthly social events.

One exception to flag: the gym is fee-based, not included. In a market where most competing buildings bundle gym access into the rent, that's a genuine difference — factor the separate cost in when you compare weekly rates against other properties.

The parking decision

There's no on-site car parking. Paid parking nearby runs about $200 a week.

That number deserves a moment. At $200 a week, parking would cost roughly half again on top of a $410 room — turning a $410 room into a $610 one. Adelaide's CBD is walkable, the tram and bus stops are seven minutes away, and there's bicycle parking on site.

The practical answer: don't bring a car unless you have a specific, non-negotiable reason. This is the single largest avoidable cost attached to this building, and the location is designed so you don't need one.

Current offer

A "Two Weeks On Us" promotion is running for Semester 2, ending 31 August 2026. If you're reading this close to that date, it's worth checking whether it still applies — and worth confirming what conditions attach, since promotional terms usually specify minimum lease lengths.

Who this suits

Strong fit if: you're at UniSA City West, you want a self-contained studio rather than a share flat, and you want to be inside a walkable capital-city centre with markets, libraries and galleries at hand.

Weaker fit if: you're at the University of Adelaide and want to walk to class; you're looking for the cheapest possible option (there's no shared-bedroom tier here); or you need a car, which this location prices punitively.

Bottom line

UniLodge on Waymouth makes most sense as a UniSA City West student's base, and as a soft landing if Adelaide is a new city to you — self-contained, central, and surrounded by things you can reach on foot.

Two things to sort before booking: get the quote pinned to a specific studio type and floor band, and decide firmly against a car. The second one saves more money than any room-type choice you'll make.
