Goldsmiths House Camden , London NW1 3SY

I think the management has changed since their other reviews so I wanted to give this place a fresher review. Halls, bathrooms, and showers are pleasantly clean, rooms have more than enough storage. They have a tight cleaning schedule and have a paper outside each bathroom where you can see what time it was last cleaned (daily cleaning is required). The rooms are very small but the price is affordable to match. The area is nice, just a short walk from many grocery stores and nearby universities. Upon arrival the staff is extremely helpful and organized, even carried my bags up. Showers are spacious and clean. Kitchen is large with each student assigned their own cupboard and fridge/freezer space. Outside lawn is darling. 24/7 security and front desk is always managed in day hours. This is overall a great choice for a dorm as woman!

All the staff, amenities, and location are great. If you want to chill a bit, you can just pop up to the Camden market and river, or the Regents Park. The Hight st. is also nearby so you can get your necessities quite easily. The best part is all flatmates are female and they are really awesome and friendly. You can make lots of friends here. Though the road across the accommodation is under construction, the window is soundproof and you can barely hear any noise with the window closed. Highly recommend it.

I enjoyed staying here for the past two years. Experiences at student halls would always depend on who the flatmates are, and I was blessed to have so many nice people around me. People staying here seemed to be generally nicer/ more responsible at least in comparison to my previous hall. - The house is small enough to become familiar with most people including the reception and cleaning staff. The fact that we only have one big dining room also helped for getting to know each other. - Communal areas are well cleaned (unless there's that one resident who makes a mess) and the shared shower room was very new looking. - One side of the building has a railway + long term construction at the moment, but the admin team is very understanding and would work out a quieter room if available.

The men at the front desk are unfriendly and actually quite rude. They tend to just stare at you with a blank face after you ask them a question, forcing you to repeat yourself until they answer back with 3 words max. I think they need more training on aproachability. Rooms are extremely small, with walls that have a popcorn-texture and unflattering yellow-ish cream colour. Sinks are provided, although the hot water tap is scalding and may cause burns after 5 seconds of being turned on. Mirrors are provided in each room - though may not be full-length. Lift is often out of service. Sounds from other rooms can be heard quite easily The other female residents are nice and helpful. Cleanliness is generally very strong thanks to daily weekday cleaners. You are provided with 1 fridge and freezer box to put your contents in - quite small, but doable. Also provided with your own cabinet in the kitchen, with a lock and key. Garden is a nice place to sit. North central location is convenient for nearby universities. Would only recommend if this was your only, last-minute option for £12000 a year.

If you want to fail your undergraduate or post-graduate degree then this is the perfect place for you! Goldsmiths house is located at the epicentre of the HS2 (High Speed Rail) construction zone, and will be due to completion in 2026. Want to get a panic attack at 07:00am? This is certainly guaranteed with industrial size jackhammer 5 metres from your lovely tiny, claustrophobic paper thin wall 2x3 sqm room. Early morning I woke up with my room shaking, extremely loud noise, had a panic, looked out the window: HS2. £202 per week on a 50 weeks contract? You can find a better nicer place/studio flat for less. I failed my 2 of mymodules because of how loud it is, some of the residents have no respect, but the management is worst, they never do anything no matter if your life is at risk or not. Safety? Forget about it, since the HS2 has taken over the area, they constantely close roads and paths making it instead of the 10 minutes walk from the station that they advertise, a 20 minutes of fearful walk. Kitchen is filthy, bathrooms is so disgusting I have started to take showers at uni and at work PS: I have found a sanitary pad full of blood stuck on the shower wall on a couple of occasions. Staff is disrespectful. In summer you will boil, because they don’t take away the window limiters. This place made my life hell.
