A Safe, Comfortable and Brilliant Place to Live I have lived at Student Roost, Great Patrick Street, for the last two years, and I have absolutely loved it. I stayed in a studio, and while it is expensive, I do feel that you get a lot for what you pay: a great location, clean accommodation, well-maintained halls, and lovely common areas. Most importantly, I felt safe here, which was a huge difference compared with the awful student house I lived in during my second year. The reception team are always so kind, friendly, and helpful, despite probably being pestered around the clock by students. On one occasion, I was locked out of my room because of a faulty lock. The team sincerely apologised, offered me food and water, and handled the situation so well. I really appreciated their kindness, especially as it was not their fault. I would highly recommend Student Roost, Great Patrick Street, to any international student, local student, or higher-level apprentice, like myself, who values comfort, safety, sleep, and generally good quietness. A massive thank you to Conal, Andrew, Cora, and the whole team, from the cleaners to maintenance. You are all amazing, and I really appreciate everything you do. My only small complaint is that the windows do not open fully. I understand this is for safety reasons, but during the few weeks of warm weather we get, my room can become absolutely sweltering. Air conditioning would make a huge difference. Overall, I would definitely recommend living here to any student.

Simply the best place to live in Belfast! ROOST truly gives you everything under one roof — from friendly and supportive staff to excellent facilities and great accessibility to anywhere in the city. What really stood out for me was the staff. They were incredibly understanding, approachable, and proactive. Whenever I faced issues with my cluster mate or had any concerns, the team handled everything so smoothly and professionally. They made sure my problems were resolved without stress, and that support meant a lot to me. Living at ROOST has been one of the most comfortable and memorable experiences of my life. I’m genuinely grateful for the care, warmth, and sense of community they provide. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a place that truly feels like home 🤍✨

Karen Manger acts Plausibly Deniable, Covert and Implicit. They “currently” allow guests to stay up to 3 days a week, which sounds generous. However, they do not allow guests to stay without the renter’s constant supervision on site. Which renders guest stays totally useless, if your guest is a partner or visiting family member. I actually got kicked out for this, which I promptly complied with. Frustratingly, only one member of staff I was dealing with was so rude and petty the whole time. When confronted on her behaviour in front of other staff, she deflected and changed topic. Classic B behaviour, and zero accountability. Happy to drop more info and video recordings if they give a response asking for it —- Reply: Student Roost, Dinneka Stevenson lied by pretending guests need 24/7 supervision by the renter. This was a fabricated lie, that we have on record. You literally threatened to call the police and kicked out my partner was a tenant. Shameful behaviour, you guys literally don’t care and make up the rules. If there isn’t a serious apology, I will ensure there are consequences. NB: Student Root has a horrendous track record of ghosting the Housing Rights NI mediation team, believed to be a systemic issue. This matter, if not accounted for, will be reported with supporting evidence to relevant student media outlets including The Tab and The Gown —- Update: we got compensated. We had success by contacting Housing Rights, Trading Standards, as well as Information Commissioner’s Office. If anyone ever has similar issues as many others have, feel free to reach out to me. My experience at this student accommodation has been overwhelmingly negative, and I would strongly advise future students to look elsewhere if you value basic professionalism and decent living standards. The reception staff are consistently unhelpful, unresponsive, and at times outright rude. Rather than assisting with issues — which are frequent — they often deflect responsibility or act like you're inconveniencing them simply by asking for help. The assistant manager is rude and comes off prejudice at times.

I stayed here for 5 days as part of a study excursion and can only say a few good things about the accommodation. Basically, the rooms are adequately equipped. There are communal areas and a Tesco round the corner. When we arrived, the rooms and the communal kitchen were so dirty that we couldn't imagine sleeping in the beds with a clear conscience. There was hair hanging in the towels and various stains. There was dirt, crumbs and hair on the floor, so it was safe to say that it hadn't been cleaned. After complaining, we were given fresh towels and promised that they would be cleaned the next day. When we came back it smelt fresh, but everything was just as dirty as before...someone had probably just sprayed a fragrance. The staff weren't particularly friendly either, as you would expect from the rest of Northern Ireland. All in all very disappointing, I would never stay here again.
