Portsburgh Court

I love this place. The room is clean, bed comfortable, staff super friendly. I visited in June, so only students were allowed to stay there. Other residents are quiet and respectful. The common kitchen is hardly used and very clean. The laundromat was a huge plus during my stay.

I spent two nights at Student Roost – Portsburgh Court in Edinburgh and I truly recommend it. A special thank you goes to Luisa, who was incredibly helpful and welcoming, always open and flexible with all my requests. Her support really made my stay even better. The atmosphere in the residence is very relaxing, the rooms are extremely quiet and furnished in a minimal yet tasteful way. Everything was very clean, which I greatly appreciated. A special mention for the common room in the basement near the laundry: a warm and cozy space that really makes you feel at home. Recommended both for short stays, like mine, and for longer periods, especially for students. I’d happily come back.

Nice staff, fairly clean, fairly quiet - pretty average experience if you've stayed in this kind of place before, which is quite different to a hotel. This place overall felt like the cheaper end of student halls - just badly put together in many ways, like not having bedside tables, no shelf space in the bathroom, and cheap mattress and pillows. Nothing dreadful, but lots of minor irritations.

I enjoyed my stay here. It brought back memories of my student days. The sheets were clean and WiFi was available for one day. The communal fridge on each floor is great for storing food. Staff were very friendly and helpful and allowed me to keep some of my luggage with them for a few hours. The building is very close to central Edinburgh, the university and Edinburgh Castle. All rooms come with a desk which was very useful for me. Ironing facilities are also available.
