Beware students that get this pentland house place, the walls in the rooms are very thin, you will hear every movement of your flatmates! , plus the location isnt that great

Postgraduate accommodation. Location, close to many amenities and good public transport connections however not close to any university buildings. Building, all brand new and complete to very high quality. Cleaned regularly and nice staff. Social, I would say mixed. Socials organised by Resident Assistants (RAs) but designed for people brand new to Edinburgh/UK. Apart from poor location in my view, very nice accommodation.

Okay, where do I begin... The best part about Pentland House is that the apartment complex is new and has a nice aesthetic feeling to it. That's about it. The building smells awfully like sweat all the time and the air is super heavy, as the air ventilation system sucks. The building is quite far away from the campus, meaning you have to allow yourself at least 45mins by bus to get to the city centre. During rush hour it might be even worse. There's Circuit laundry, but there are only 10 washers and dryers altogether. That being said, you might end up waiting to get your washing done for several hours. The walls are also super thin and you can hear ppl who are several floors up. Building management is lovely and the staff are generally friendly, even though you might not see them a lot. Common areas tend to be dirty during the weekend but are regularly cleaned during the weekdays.

My experience at my current accommodation is really good. The staff are kind and helpful, they are able to answer my questions and solve my problems. The security here is also top-notch. He would look after the accommodation after the reception team has left. He would do walkabouts from time to time throughout the night, which I felt really safe living here. The common areas are also really good. The study area is quiet and have all the equipments, so you can focused on your study materials. They also have board games, snooker and few large monitors with comfortable sofas for you to sit on, which you can enjoy movies or YouTube with your friends.

Capitol students has well maintained and up to date facilities. Rooms are in good conditons, if there are any problems its easy to file an issues through the accoms portal and within a few days the issue will be resolved. Staff are very welcoming and if you have any problems they will try their best to help you. You dont need to worry about missing parcels as it will be collected by the staff at reception, they will then send yoj an email that you have to present to collect it so the system is very safe

Great stay at Capitol Students Gorgie Accommodation. Spacious rooms, friendly staff, and a convenient location, close to Heriot-Watt University with a bus stop right outside. Plus, several convenient grocery stores and eateries nearby. Truly exceeded expectations.

My boyfriend has stayed here since September and the bin storage outside is absolutely atrocious. Every single night I have been here I have seen countless huge rats running back and forth through the bin storage and outside the flats. I imagine this is due to the constantly over flowing bins that clearly do not get emptied enough. Although my boyfriend does not mind as he says this is ‘normal’ for Edinburgh, I find this very disgusting as nothing seems to be getting done about this.

I have never left a review before, but this accommodation has changed my mind. I would like to save somebody the pain. It is, without exaggeration, the most poorly managed “business” I have ever encountered. My year-long stay was nothing short of appalling. The kitchen facilities remained in a filthy state for the entire year, with no consequences for residents who showed no regard for basic hygiene, with inspections proving pointless. To make matters worse, my £150 deposit has now been withheld for over nine weeks (and counting), with certain staff members showing no accountability or urgency in resolving the matter. I refund of my money would still not justify a 2 star review. During this time, I have received 16 separate emails requesting that I complete a rent return form — a form I submitted in full over nine weeks ago. This level of administrative incompetence is staggering and only adds to the frustration. While a few staff members were genuinely helpful and friendly, others demonstrated a shocking lack of basic human competence, making any attempt to resolve issues unnecessarily difficult and rude. Their advertised cleanliness “statistics” and so on are misleading, as residents are incentivised with prizes to leave reviews. While the room itself was in good condition, noise insulation is virtually nonexistent — you can hear every movement from your neighbours. On top of that, frequent fire alarms, sometimes blaring for up to 30 minutes when full time day staff were absent, made the living experience miserable. Marketed as “premium student accommodation in Gorgie,” the reality is a substandard accommodation in Slateford — and it’s safe to say the quality certainly does not reflect the price. Save your money people. 👍

Unsuitable for University of Edinburgh students. The place is too far. Plus the location is not safe. There are pointless local gangs of youth roaming around harassing folks. The price paid is too high for the area, you’re better off finding something closer as the buses are also not cheap. The staff is nice but these are really things that are out of their control.

Best student accommodation in Edinburgh accessible to most big Universities in Scotland.

I am a current student at Heriot watt university and stayed here last year. I was originally looking for somewhere else this year but after thinking about how nice the staff have treated me and the security guards especially Aymann I decided I should stay 100%. I would recommend this place to any new students or parents looking for accommodation Amazing!!!

I stayed here for a full year. The rooms have no sound proofing, the building halls are never vacuumed, I think my whole stay they vacuumed them twice. The smell in the building is absolutely atrocious and they don't enforce hygiene on students. There was an issue with students having expired milk and it took more than 3 weeks for it to be cleaned and I physically was ill from it as if there was a bio hazard in the building that was making people physically sick and the smells weren't dealt with or noticed until 3 days after the complaint and didn't leave until two weeks after. When further complaints were made during this time the general reply was either "We are dealing with it so be patient" or " senior staff aren't here at the moment so we have to wait for them to get back to be able to do anything ". There was also an issue with other students general lack of personal hygiene where they come down to common areas with smells of BO and make the entire place unusable for other students which could be remedied by simply air spraying the building from time to time, and I had to walk around the building when it was particularly bad to spray my own spray to clean up the smell. There was a further issue of students giving glaring stares at females in the building and if you lived on the first floor you could hear other students at 1am just playing on the piano (which isn't even tuned). It is a good location but there is a severe lack of hygiene in these halls which is their biggest fault and they don't enforce minimum standards on students. The lack of cleaning by staff in general in the halls also helps make this a lot worse I don't think I have ever walked around the building and not been annoyed at the smell which caused me to have to use my own air fresheners around the building. The building when constructed was also badly thought out, movie spaces are open and anyone can walk in and sit which means people may end up being around people who they are uncomfortable around. and if someone wanted to watch on the TV someone else wanted to play pool and another person wanted to play music, it would make it unbearable that you would just give up and go to your room. There is a general lack of usefulness of space. The bike storage for example is large enough to be a gym or other space but instead is space for every resident to have 1-2 bikes and I have never ever seen more than 10 bikes in there. The lift also always breaks down and my friend got stuck in there due to it never actually being properly fixed and has continuous horrible smells
