The Keel Houses

I really enjoy my stay here so far. The location of the accommodation is just wonderful: this area is full of nice cafes and study places, and overall very safe. Everyone who works here is also simply amazing, friendly and welcoming. Especially I would like to highlight our manager, Alex, who is so responsive and attentive. He always makes sure that everyone feels comfortable

Overall, I’ve had a good experience staying at The Keel Houses. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the facilities are convenient for student life. Although the building works can sometimes be a little noisy, the accommodation is generally comfortable and well-located.

It is a lovely accommodation and I feel safe walking at night which is something I value. It’s also close to the uni, so it’s easy to walk to class and there are different options for grocery shopping within a convenient distance. Even though the construction is quite annoying at times, whenever I talk to the building manager, Alex, he does his absolute best to sort out the issues and make sure my experience is as comfortable as possible. He’s always willing to offer a helping hand regardless of the type of issue and also does his best to plan events for the students so that we can still experience a social dorm lifestyle when we wish.

This student residence is a hidden gem near a picturesque canal adorned with vibrant graffiti. Safety is a top priority, ensuring a secure haven for residents. With an array of dining options, proximity to the Cameo cinema, and Tepin for billiards, entertainment and leisure are always at your fingertips. Bennets provides the perfect setting for unwinding with a beer. Shared kitchens foster a sense of community, and the ping pong table adds a fun element. In essence, it’s not just a residence; it’s a vibrant community that combines artistic surroundings, diverse dining, and recreational amenities for an exceptional living experience. The only bad thing is that in spring there are mosquitoes like lions.

Unfortunately, this was one of the worst check-in experiences we have had. We waited until 3:00 PM to check in and had to walk to another hotel twice to collect the keys. When we finally entered the room, it had not been properly prepared or cleaned. The bed was not ready and appeared dirty, there were used towels on the shower floor, rubbish in the room, dirty floors and a strong unpleasant smell. We took photos of everything. After we reported the condition of the room, instead of resolving the issue, we were told to leave and contact Booking.com for alternative accommodation. We were not given any clear information about where we were supposed to go or how the situation would be handled. We then had to urgently find and pay for another place ourselves, pack again and relocate with our luggage. This also meant cancelling our evening plans and spending additional money on transport. Although the original booking was eventually cancelled and a refund was initiated, the money will take 7–12 days to return, so we had to pay for accommodation twice out of our holiday budget. The whole situation was stressful, time-consuming and completely unacceptable. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this property.
