It was an incredible experience. That was a year between 2006-2007. I've spent it with my girlfriend while she was coursing her London School of Economics MSc program and I was in a Chevening Programme in Cambridge.

I've been coming here for 10 years but won't come again. The room temperature at midnight one night was 30 celsius when it was 22 outside! This is because the windows only open 10 cms at the top so the ventilation is very poor indeed. (There is no aircon because it was built in 1962) The breakfast was no good for me as I am vegetarian and like to eat healthy. There was just tortillas one day and burgers next day, choice of pork or chicken. Sugary cereals and danish pastries, that was about all. Despite having paid for breakfast I had to go elsewhere to find something I could eat. About 90% of guests were Chinese summer school students, I think that's all they cater for now, whereas it used to be all ages and nations. They used to provide soap, shampoo, and a cup, not now. They even removed the big Underground map near the stairs. The only good feature is the location.

I have been staying in this hall for holiday visits since 2015. This year I find it's very deteriorated, so I will not be returning. The breakfast used to be excellent, but not now, they had only burgers one day and tortillas another day, choice of chicken or pork, no vegetarian, otherwise just sugary cereals and danish pastries. Despite having paid for breakfast I did not have it the last two days, went to Penderels Oak PH instead where they do good vegetarian breakfast. As for the accomodation, it's always been in a poor state of repair, for instance this time one of the showers was scalding and could not be adjusted. The worst thing however is the lack of ventilation- the windows only open about 10 cms!!! (There is of course no airconditioning as it's a 1960s building). Result is that on one night the room temperature at midnight was 30 celsius when it was 22 outdoors. They also used to supply soap and shampoo, and a plastic cup, probably cost them very little but it was a really nice feature- not any more! THey've even removed the useful large underground map by the stairs. Basically they are only now catering for Chinese summer schools, whereas it used to be all ages and all nations. The only good features are the location and the reception staff.

I'm a local student and have been living at International hall for about 6months. The last 2 weeks we have had no heating. The temperature was below freezing or close to freezing every day. It has been awful. Finally today the heating went back on. The food is also pretty bad. This morning for breakfast we were served rice that was so salty it was impossible to eat. The rice was served with one rasher of bacon. Some nights the food is not as bad but we often get served the same thing almost everyday. The location is great but the cold and the food.... Yikes. Lastly we see rodents in the food hall a few times a week.

For a student accommodation, the rooms were surprisingly well kept, toilet was newly renovated and thus I had no complaints. The security is friendly and helpful too.

I lived in this dorm for 9 months, and everyone working here was so kind and nice! I really appreciate their job! The dorm was located in I believe one of the safest neighbourhoods in the area, and I always felt the Brunswick shopping centre being like only 30-second-walk away was so convenient! Being close to the King’s cross station was also helpful every time I went travelling to outside London. I truly recommend you choose this place! The only bad thing about this place was the residents who had obnoxiously loud parties in the middle of the night or forgot to take their clothes from the washing/drying machines! My worst nightmare was there was a time when someone maliciously stopped the machine I was using and took my wet clothes off and dumped them on top of the dirty machines! Thank you moral neighbours!! Hope you have a great life!!

I stayed here for my first year at QEC 1978-1980. There was just one shared bathroom on the floor. The food was terrible, phone was outside my door so I was often disturbed.
