Austen House is located in the center of Southampton, surrounded by many shops, including Chinese shops, Lidl and Tesco, etc., making it very convenient to purchase daily necessities. It only takes a few minutes to walk to the bus stop from here, so living here is very convenient. The apartment rooms are fully equipped and the front desk staff are all very friendly.

Cannot fault the place! Perfect location, great room albeit walls are relatively thin and I have had issues sleeping as a result but they dealt with the issues perfectly! Knew within weeks that I'd likely be re-booking a studio for second year. The staff are also great with any and all requests, Susie cannot do enough to help you with any problems that you might run in to during your stay! I highly recommend Austen House for anyone looking at studying in Southampton.

I’m a first-year undergraduate student, and I’ve just rebooked my stay at Austen House for next year! I really love its location—it’s only about 150 metres from Lidl, so I can pick up groceries easily on my way back home. I also like the staff here, especially Susan. She’s always gentle and patient when helping me sort out any problems in the apartment, like collecting parcels or arranging repairs. Austen House is my first choice for everything, whether it’s the location or the services. If anyone is looking for student accommodation in Southampton, I’d recommend Austen House to everyone!

Great experience! The staff are very responsive and handle any issues promptly. The location is perfect: just a 2-minute walk to both the bus stop and a Chinese supermarket. Highly recommended.

GUYS. DO NOT STAY AT AUSTEN HOUSE. IT IS HIGHLT NOT RECOMMENDED FOR YOU TO STAY. This accommodation is literally the worst ever. The yugo team is the worst here. When I first arrived, I stored some stuffs at their storage room which i paid for £30 per week. They have moved my things without any notices. As a result, they have lost one of my thing which is a lamp which costs £120. I have been chasing for my lamp over two months. And finally they gave me a respond, they are really sorry that they have lost my lamp. And I asked them to claim me back my money, and they will only do it if i have an actual paper receipt/ digital receipt. WHO WOULD KEEP THEIR PAPER RECEIPT AFTER BUYING A LAMP??? so are they saying if i don’t have a receipt it means i stole it?? I have also sent them the price from amazon nothing worked. I had to go down to the reception every single day to chase for an update. After things are just they do things damn slow. Slower than a normal speed. My heater in my room does not work AT ALL. I have asked the maintainers to fix it for me and he said nothing is wrong with my heater it’s just your room has to be cold at certain point. LITERALLY. I AM SUFFERING FROM THE COLD EVERY SINGLE MORNING. I messaged them on the yugo app a few ago, I allowed them to enter my room when i’m not here, I have no idea rather they have come or haven’t they just don’t give me any updates on it. PLEASE GUYS DO NOT STAY AT AUSTEN HOUSE. IT IS THE WORST ACCOMMODATION EVER IN THE WORLD. THEY DONT EVEN DESERVE ONE STAR BUT I HAD TO PUT IT. THIS ACCOMMODATION IS JUST -100/100. NEGATIVE.

Keeping constructions. Loud noise. Dirty environment. I will never come back again. I even can't sleep well. Horrible.

I booked a viewing two days in advance for an ensuite room at Austen House on 29th August 2025. Susan confirmed the date and time by email, and I replied to confirm. I also asked whether it would be possible to reserve the room on the same day, which she confirmed. When I arrived, the reception was closed. After calling the reception number, a staff member showed up and told me to come back another day. I assumed this was a misunderstanding, so I emailed immediately, but received no reply for three days... three days! The eventual excuse was staff shortages... but why wasn't I notified in advance? As an international student staying temporarily outside Southampton, this was a major inconvenience, especially since I had travelled two hours to see the property. Thankfully, I had other viewings lined up that day, so my whole day wasn't wasted. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional, and I didn't feel like I was taken seriously. Austen House is not the cheapest accommodation around either. Thankfully, the other properties I viewed were far more professional, and I've since found much better accommodation elsewhere. If this is how they handle viewings, I would be concerned how they handle their tenants once a contract is signed. I strongly recommend considering other properties in the area before choosing Austen House... personally, I'm glad I did.

Didn't stop at this accomodation only went for a visit to see what it was like, booked in advance, No one on resperation or in the security office to let me in, Postman let me inside, where he tried to call the office, and left several parcels unattended with no CCTV Halls where dirty, kitchen dirty, They Did not have showrooms, instead the person working there was banging on the poor girls door to let us in, He told her she was given prior knowledge that the tour would be happening, she had no knowledge of the tour,

I stayed at Austen House from 2023/24 in my second year at university and unfortunately had a very negative experience. First, the staff were unhelpful and seemed uninterested in addressing any issues that arose during my stay. When my roommate breached their contract, there was no support or action taken from the management, which made the situation even more frustrating. The room itself was nothing like the pictures or description advertised. It was much smaller and less comfortable than expected, and the amenities were lacking. The shared kitchen area was another major disappointment. It was often left in a disgraceful state by other roommates, and the cleanliness was never maintained, making it very unpleasant to use. Overall, my stay was far from what I had anticipated, and I would not recommend Austen House to others.
