The Towpath, Chester CH1 4GX

I stayed at the Towpath during the three years of my degree at Chester, and I can genuinely say I thoroughly enjoyed my time. The accommodation is modern, right by the view of the canal side, there are events held in the common room regularly throughout the year, maintenance gets things fixed quickly, and the staff are very kind. Thank you especially to Colin and Paige :)

My step son is staying at this property whilst studying at Chester University. An amazing safe and fun place. The staff are truly attentive and have the students best interest at heart. Some of the events they host are fun and inclusive. Would recommend anyone studying in Chester to stay at this accommodation.

We host regular student events here and it's always a great place to be! The students are really friendly, the staff are helpful and all of the areas that we see such as the reception, communal space and gym (which look very smart) are always keep clean and tidy. Looking forward to another year with you guys!

The Towpath is a lovely student accommodation. The location is beautiful and the accommodation has everything you need. The canal runs right next to the accommodation providing lovely views from the balcony. The accommodation is well located and there is also parking on site. There is a common room with booths and sofas, it’s great for studying or meeting up with friends. There’s also a pub right next door where you can get food and drinks and enjoy when the weather is nice. I’ve found the staff to be really accommodating and helpful. They make the place feel like home. The rooms are spacious and clean and the shared kitchen space is massive. I’ve had a really good experience so far

Ive really enjoyed staying here and it was definitely the best choice for my first year. I had issues with rent coming up to my second term and the staff and management were brilliant, helping me set up a payment plan that made sure not only my guarantor didn't get charged but that i could pay my rent and still enjoy my time at uni. They are super friendly and always check in when you see them, overall i'm super happy with my stay here.

It’s a great location in terms of being close to the city centre. Great way to meet other students. Good study area and communal spaces with a pool table, games, vending machine etc. lovely canal view. There is only approx 6 washing machines and dryers to share between hundreds of people. Living here was a horrible experience. Some staff were lovely and helpful. Other staff were horribly rude and unhelpful. The prices were extortionate and continually rising year on year. I had problems with contracts not being sorted properly and being scammed out of thousands due to no one communicating with each other. Them constantly changing management allowed them to get away with it because they know it’s not easy for students to find somewhere to go mid term. Constant gaslighting by the staff. I would recommend anyone staying here to ensure they get absolutely anything they communicate with you in writing or they will lie about it. Don’t allow maintenance issues to go unresolved because you’re paying a lot of money for that service. My living conditions were poor and instead of being understood I was blamed and gaslighted. Problems would take months to be resolved with poor communication. Wouldn’t recommend it but it’s a great place location wise so just be wary.

I have lived in The Towpath for the past 3 years and couldn’t fault a thing! From the moment I moved in, I felt welcomed and at home. The staff (new management especially) are incredibly friendly and always ready to assist with any concerns or questions. The facilities are top-notch, offering everything a student could need, including fast and reliable Wi-Fi, well-maintained common areas, high quality flats and 24/7 support. The location is perfect, situated close to campus and the city centre. The sense of community here is fantastic, with regular events and activities which has allowed me to make lasting friendships and memories. Security is also taken very seriously, and I always feel safe here. Overall, I highly recommend The Towpath to any and every student!

New social space is looking amazing. You can see how much the team care about the site and the other people who live here are friendly. Sometimes it's a bit busy with parcels and stuff in reception but everybody seems to be happy I'd recommend the towpath!

I have loved living at towpath however I will not be living here next year. The view and location is great and the atmosphere of the buildings are amazing! However there have been many issues with towpath such as wifi going off and on all the time, issues with water such as not having water at all and not having hot water, some of the staff are very friendly and kind and I feel I can go to them for help or if I need something fixing but some of the staff are rude and act like they want nothing to do with you. I have lived here two years but next year I will be leaving especially as the prices have gone up and the service has gone down.

I have lived here for first and second year of my time at the University of Chester (I'm also coming back for my third year) and it has been the best home, I could wish for. My first year here, the accommodation team made me feel so welcome and all the amenities such as the communal lounges and study areas were perfect for hanging out with flatmates and uni friends. The flats are five star, they are modern and clean. The kitchen is well laid out and spacious for everyone. I settled in quickly. Also the location is perfect, its a ten minute walk from the main campus and its beside the canal, so theres lots of wildlife and beautiful views. The local pub is great too. The Towpath is well looked after, with an amazing friendly team to help you in anyway you need. The building is also safe with 24/7 security and it is honestly the best place to be if you're a student in Chester.
